What are the advantages of wireless TV headphone systems?
With a wireless TV headphone system, you benefit from the following advantages:
- You can watch TV while your partner can e.g. read or sleep undisturbed in the same room.
- You can enjoy crystal-clear sound without being completely acoustically isolated from your environment. The stethoset receiver does not encircle your ears like normal headphones. The ear pads don't fully cover your ear canals and allow ambient sound to pass so you are not acoustically isolated from your environment.
- Your hearing sensitivity has changed but you can again enjoy and hear TV sound clearly without having to increase the volume.
- You can better understand and enjoy the dialogs in movies or sportscasts, without annoying background noise such as background music or stadium noise.
What are the advantages of the Set stethoset receivers?
With a stethoset receiver, you benefit from the following advantages:
- Wireless audio transmission
- Better sound quality without annoying background noise such as traffic or children playing
- Stethoset receivers do not ""squash"" your hair and your hairstyle is preserved
- Stethoset receivers are ideal for wearers of glasses. The eyeglasses-compatible design allows you to wear your glasses comfortably, without painful pressure marks
- Large operating buttons facilitate daily use
Which of the digital wireless headphone systems is best for me?
Can I use a stethoset receiver when I have a cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillator (ICD)?
Always maintain a distance of at least 10 cm/3.94" between the headphone cap and cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillators (ICDs) since the product generates permanent magnetic fields. At a distance of 10 cm//3.94", the magnetic field strength is < 0,1 mT so that any interference should be excluded.
Which country adapters are supplied with the wireless headphone system?
The wireless headphone system is supplied complete with a power supply unit with plug adapters for Europe, the UK, the USA and Australia.
How do I best connect the transmitter to my audio device?
You can connect the TR 860 transmitter either to a digital or an analog audio source (e.g. a TV). The connections for audio devices are usually labeled "AUDIO OUT" or "DIGITAL OUT". We recommend using the digital connection.
If you connect an audio source to both inputs (digital and analog), only the analog audio source will be reproduced.
The optical digital cable and the stereo audio cable with 3.5 mm jack plugs are supplied with the Set 860. Additional accessories and adapters (e.g. SCART or RCA adapters) are available from your Sennheiser partner.
Why do the supplied cables have color-coded connectors?
The supplied cables have color-coded connectors to simplify installation. If you connect the color-coded connectors to the matching colored connection sockets, then your installation is correct and the device is ready for operation.
Which input formats are supported by the digital optical audio input?
The wireless headphone system supports “PCM” or “stereo” audio signals. Surround sound formats are not supported. If an audio device/TV is connected to the digital optical input of the transmitter, set the audio format of the connected device to “PCM” or “stereo” by using the sound menu of the device.
I have several wireless devices at home (e.g. WiFi router, cordless telephone). Will they interfere with my wireless headphone system?
The wireless headphone system uses automatic frequency management to ensure the best possible radio transmission for the wireless headphone system and optimum co-existence with other wireless devices within its vicinity.
Can I use several wireless headphone systems in close proximity?
Yes, you can use several wireless headphone systems in parallel (minimum distance between two systems: 0.5 m). What matters is that the headphones/receiver and the transmitter are paired with each other and connected.
Can I use other Sennheiser wireless headphones (e.g. RS 165, RS 175, RS 185, RS 11x series, RS 12x series, RS 160, RS 170, RS 180, RS 220) together with the transmitter?
You can simultaneously use up to 4 paired RR 800 stethoset receivers, or HDR 165, HDR 175 and HDR 185 headphones with the TR 860 transmitter. Other Sennheiser wireless headphones (e.g. RS 11x series, RS 12x series, RS 160, RS 170, RS 180, RS 220) are not compatible with the TR 860 transmitter and cannot be used. Please note that the HDR 165, HDR 175 and HDR 185 headphones can only be used for audio reproduction. Additional functions are not available and the headphones cannot be charged using the TR 860 transmitter.
What are the advantages of lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries?
- Among the lithium-ion battery family, lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries currently offer the best performance. Compared to older rechargeable battery types, lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries are lighter and have a higher energy density. Charging of lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries is simpler and more efficient.
- The service life of lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries is first and foremost determined by the number of charge cycles. A charge cycle is commonly understood as the full discharge of a charged rechargeable battery with subsequent full recharge. Our lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries are designed to be cycled (discharged and recharged) at least 800 times before their capacity decreases significantly.
- The lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery is automatically charged when you place your device into the transmitter's charging compartment. The built-in lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery must not be replaced or removed because it has a longer operating time and service life. In addition, your device features a charging reminder function.
If the operating time of the rechargeable battery decreasesdrastically, have the rechargeable battery replaced by your Sennheiser service partner.
- If you have purchased an optional MCA 800 charging adapter, you can also charge the stethoset receiver using the charging adapter to extend its operating time. You can also use your device during charging (does not apply to wearers of cardiac pacemakers or implanted defibrillators (ICDs)).
Why are my TV's internal loudspeakers muted when I connect the wireless headphone system using the analog cable?
This should only be the case if the transmitter is connected to the analog headphone socket of your TV. Some TV models mute the internal loudspeakers as soon as a headphone jack is inserted. Check the menu of your TV to see if and how the internal loudspeakers can be unmuted. Alternatively, you can connect the transmitter using the audio connection "AUDIO OUT" or "DIGITAL OUT" (if available).
Can I use several receivers simultaeously with one transmitter?
You can connect (pair) up to 4 stethoset receivers to the TR 860 transmitter and use them simultaneously.
How can I personalize the sound of the wireless headphone system?
The hearing profiles allow you to personalize the sound of the Set 860 and to especially improve the speech intelligibility. You can choose between the following hearing profiles:
Hearing profile 1 - Low-frequency tones are slightly boosted to provide a warm, full sound. High-frequency tones are reproduced less piercing and clanking.
Hearing profile 2 - High-frequency tones are strongly boosted to provide a crystal-clear sound, especially for sibilants and high-frequency tones such as twittering of birds.
Hearing profile 3 - Low-frequency tones are attenuated so that they cannot mask high-frequency tones.
If no hearing profile is selected, the sound from the connected audio source is reproduced unchanged.
When speech is mixed with annoying background noise, you can use the speech intelligibility function. The speech intelligibility function automatically detects and reduces annoying background noise. Speech is foregrounded and easier to understand. Press the Speech intelligibility button to activate or deactivate the function. The speech intelligibility function can also be used in addition to one of the hearing profiles 1-3. If you switch to the next hearing profile, the speech intelligibility function is automatically deactivated.
Why is there the possibility to switch between mono and stereo operation?
With certain sound recordings, voice or audio signals are recorded on one channel only (right or left stereo channel).
This can result in a loss of individually recorded voices or instruments, especially when you have changed the balance setting because you have e.g. lost part of your hearing in one of your ears. In order to avoid this effect, you can switch between stereo and mono operation.
When I wear the stethoset receiver for extended periods of time, the ear pads exert pressure on my ears and cause pain. Are the ear pads available in different sizes and forms?
You can choose between ear pads for larger ears, ear pads for smaller ears and ear pads for pressure-sensitive ears. The stethoset receiver is delivered with the ear pads for larger ears already attached. Ear pads in different materials and forms are available from your Sennheiser partner.
Why is there reverb/echo when using the headphones with my TV?
When using the headphones with your TV and the TV sound is also reproduced through the TV’s internal loudspeakers, this can cause reverb/echo issues. To eliminate the reverb/echo effect, reduce the volume on your TV or check the audio output settings of your TV to see if you can reduce the "latency" or "delay" setting (recommended setting: "0" or "low").
What can I do if the volume is very low?
This should only be the case if the wireless headphone system is connected to the (analog) headphone socket of your TV/audio device. In this case, make sure that the volume of your TV/audio device or the volume of the headphone socket on your TV/audio device is adjusted to at least a medium level. Deactivate the muting function on the audio source.
Are there special instructions for battery maintenance?
No, the transmitter’s intelligent battery charging technology ensures that the rechargeable batteries are always charged to their optimum capacity and the battery life span is maximized. Make sure to only charge the rechargeable battery within the permissible temperature range of 5 to 40 °C/41 to 104 °F. If you plan to store away the stethoset receiver for extended periods of time, make sure that the rechargeable battery is about half charged.
How can I protect my settings against accidental changes?
The advanced settings allow you to adjust the wireless headphone system to your individual needs and to protect the settings against accidental changes.
What does a flashing battery status display on the transmitter mean when I switch the stethoset receiver off?
A flashing battery status display means that the charging reminder function is activated. When you take the stethoset receiver out of the transmitter's charging compartment and the transmitter switches to standby mode, the Battery LED will flash for 10 minutes to remind you to charge the stethoset receiver. The LED stops flashing when the charging process starts. You can also switch off the charging reminder function.
