In just half a decade, we have successfully filled some 30 percent of the Indian headphone market with Sennheiser products. In the professional radio sector we are clear market leaders, with a share of around 80 percent. Here again it can be seen that innovative strength, quality and excellence make a lasting impact.
Our most significant target markets include the major Indian cities. We have important customers from the broadcasting, film, event management and aviation industries on our books, with bases in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Our staff in India work to meet the highest standards of perfect sound in keeping with the customer’s individual needs. We love engaging with our customers directly: via our excellent application service team on the phone, or on location at concerts, audio productions and consumer events. Only with this direct and frequent contact can we ensure we continue to learn about our customer’s true demands and live up to our vision of offering outstanding sound performance to meet all individual requirements.
But for Sennheiser, business is not the only thing that counts. We are involved in good causes, supporting schools for the blind and other charitable institutions with our donations. Many of our employees even contribute to these causes personally. These are our successes behind the scenes, without any kind of publicity or PR. In addition, we have realised one of the biggest Guideport projects in India: an interactive museum guide system for the recently opened Khalsa Heritage Centre, which offers insights into 500 years of the history of the Punjab.
These successes would not be possible without a team that really cares passionately about the perfect sound. Before joining Sennheiser, many of us had a background in professional audio or were musicians ourselves. Many of us are still pursuing our passion in music as a hobby while playing in a band, recording at home studios or providing audio services for local venues. In India, we are proud that our talents, passion for perfect sound and ongoing technical improvements have been rewarded with personal and corporate success.
Today Sennheiser employs more than 2,100 people in over 90 countries. Our global headquarters is located in Wennebostel, Germany, a small village close to the northern German city of Hanover. Our Wennebostel production facilities meet the highest technical standards in the production of microphones, wireless transmission technology, conference and tour guide systems, aviation headsets, high quality headphones and headphone transducers and monitor systems.
Sennheiser India launched in 2007. Since then, we have been working all over the country with independent intermediate dealers. The Indian economy is growing at a headlong pace. We are delighted that our Indian customers now enjoy direct access to the best professional and consumer products. In five years, the Sennheiser Electronics India has already achieved record sales. We are confident of making further inroads in the Indian electro acoustics market with an innovative range of products.
Our home is in Gurgaon, a suburb of the metropolis of Delhi. Like Sennheiser, Gurgaon has come to increasing prominence in recent years. Today it is regarded as the new capital of India for education and sophistication. Some are already calling it ‘the new Delhi’. With further branches in Mumbai and Bangalore, both with excellently equipped service centres, Sennheiser has a presence in the three biggest Indian cities. In Bangalore, one of the most important IT centres of the country, Sennheiser has an exclusive showroom where its entire product range is on show.
Mumbai by contrast is the most significant port on the subcontinent and the economic centre of the country, but above all it is a cultural centre. The city acts as a magnet for the best artists of classical and modern Indian music, as well as dancers and theatrical performers. Famous rock stars from India and from the West perform in the arenas and concert halls of Mumbai, which are increasingly coming to be equipped with Sennheiser’s sound technology. Being located across these three important Indian centres gives our team the right inspiration to provide the perfect sound for our customers, every day and every minute, all year round.
